Are you bored with your current life? Are your relationships and work days routine? Do you crave adventure and fun? Sometimes, all you need is a new hobby or pastime. Here are a few extraordinary hobbies for you to consider. Whether or not one or more of these suggestions fits you, at least your life will be less boring.
Hot Dogs Will Never Taste the Same Again
Oh, the sky is the limit for groups or events you can participate in. There are golf tournaments, pie-baking contests, speech clubs, and hot dog-eating contests. That’s right, if you are tired of sitting at home with your plate of hot dogs and potato chips why not get out and eat those frankfurters competitively?
Many organizations hold such events(and similar) of epic meat-eater proportions! Nathan’s Famous, for one, hosts an annual international Hot Dog Eating Contest each year. Multiple regional qualifiers challenge the top frank stuffers, and a final contest is held on the 4th of July each year. You better build up an appetite to be a competitive eater, because at this event alone annual winners are known to scarf down several dozen hot dogs in just ten minutes.
Sleep For Sport
So your life is so dull you could just fall asleep any minute? Why not sleep for sport? That’s right, competitive sleeping is a real thing!
One of the main global sleep competition events is in Spain. To win, slumberers must fall asleep as quickly as possible and then maintain a full sleep cycle as long as possible. Similar events are held in the U.S. and Canada. Imagine what you must do to train for such an event. You probably must consult with top doctors and “sleep coaches.” And how do you practice for a sleep competition? It is not exactly like training for a marathon.
Light Up Those Hands
So you often have nothing to do but twiddle your thumbs and fingers? Why not put those hands up to the light and take up hand shadow figures? No seriously, many amazing shadow puppet artists who turn their fingers into magical shadow life.
Finding a finger shadow class may not be easy, but there are some great books on the subject. YouTube or social media videos may also offer amazing lessons. You may not be able to make it to international acclaim, but with this talent, you certainly will be the life of the family barbeque or corporate luncheon.
Time To Build a Couch Fort — Yes Adults Too!
Well, you sit on your couch doom-scrolling or watching TV, so why not start a hobby designing couch forts? This need not be left to kids without enough chores, because isn’t it true that creativity and fun can be virtues refined in adulthood?
Yes, I’m quite serious about this. Spend your bored weeknights or rainy weekends putting together new fort designs and cushion shapes with your treasured living room furniture. You can expand this and also build chair or pillow forts as well. Who knows, you could make this the next big thing. Consider posting pictures of your designs on social media or sending videos to family and friends. You might be met with criticism and suggestions to “get a hobby!” But then, hey, you can reply this is indeed your hobby!
The Sky Is the Limit
So far, we have looked at hobbies that occur indoors(more or less). Hand puppets, hot dog contests, and the like might all get a little stuffy. So why not head outdoors? And you do not have to go far to get excitement in. Why not try your hand at the old hobby of cloudwatching? It is fun for kids and adults alike. You know, simply lying down and looking at those clouds float by overhead. Not only will you be certain to see some amazing conglomerations of water vapor, but you will also undoubtedly mine some deeper insights about existence.
For one, why ought we ever be bored when there is so much to see and do? Indeed, the sky is the limit for past times and activities we can enjoy.
