Television and streaming services offer countless court TV shows, real-life emergency medicine shows, game shows, reality television series, and investigative crime series. Specialized or niche series include medical aficionados like the dermatologist Dr. Lee in Dr. Pimple Popper or the chiropractors in Crack Addict. YouTube and other online video platforms offer countless documentary or video channels. With all of these innumerable platforms offering new and enriching content every day, it certainly is exciting to consider what new series they will think of next. Let’s go ahead and explore a few possibilities while we are at it, as you never know who might be searching for the next big thing.

Hey, you may not think an hour of watching doctors poke around in someone’s various facial organs is super exciting. But what if the condition is a case of serious taste or smell disorders or some type of weird ear disorder going on?

Developing New Games

Imagine a team of judges is looking for the next big game hit. It could be a video game, a smartphone app, or a classic board game. Contestants have a limited time to draw the judges in with a small demo, marketing plan, and mission statement. The competitor whose idea wins receives a cash prize plus a chance to develop and market their product. The possibilities are unlimited for games that could be presented. Shall we see a new type of racing smartphone game or a new high-strategy board game? Stay tuned, gamers of all kinds, and your adventures will begin.

Estranged. . .to Split or Not to Split?

So now we switch gears to the genre of . . ahem. .love and marriage. We’ve got all of those shows about finding lasting love or showcasing the inner world of their marriage and family. What about a show that focused on marriages in disarray? Let’s say, a marriage counselor who specializes in separated couples who do not know the next steps of their marriage.

Each episode could feature one or two couples who are trying to navigate their situation in the midst of jobs, children, family, and life. Each one or two-part series could focus on a few counseling sessions with the counselor and possible moves toward mediation or further dissolution. Viewers would root for the couples and the stories of each spouse. Each story will end by reporting whether or not each couple is still estranged or if they have reached another category.

Small Engine Mechanics

Yeah, you heard that correctly. Let’s get a show going about a firm of small engine mechanics. It’s unique and certain to capture viewers’ attention. Like any other genre, we won’t just focus on the regular everyday craft here. We will see the nitty gritty of the ordinary while also the extraordinary. You might see crazy things like getting the weird objects out of the chainsaw or weedeater and then fixing the vintage collectible items. There’s a whole world in everything, even your lawn mower’s functioning!

And we could go on! I doubt you will find these reality programs on television or any streaming service anytime soon. However, what a great activity to brainstorm possible programs that aren’t out there. And in our day and age where anyone can make it big on YouTube or Tiktok, why not get your wheels turning and start your own new program? Some of us will just watch others’ work or write about possibilities.
