What Pieces Jump Out At Me?

So, I open up my Medium page and see these recommended articles jumping out at me. How amazing and wonderful Medium is, and I am hardly even scraping from the surface.

Medium Is Dying Down and Substack Is Taking Its Place (Or Something Among Those Lines)

Uh, ok! I still come to Medium regularly and am just beginning to savor all of its riches. You could stay on the platform for days and still hardly begin to savor all of the works offered here. Like so many other online or social media platforms, it is a whole lost mega-library of thousands of publications and millions of pages to consider. Long from being dead, it is still thriving. I guess each person does look at things from different angles.

And Substack? Yeah, I’ve heard a lot about it. Have even read a few amazing works there from great friends online. But I don’t know much more than that about it. Maybe many are flocking to Substack to capture something Medium used to have? But then Medium is still carrying its own as well. I really don’t know what to think. I’ll peruse this article more in-depth soon and gather great insights, some certainly being about possible shortcomings to keep an eye out for on Medium.

Publish Articles Noone May Read (or the Importance of Doing This)

Ah, thank you so much for an insightful and wonderful article! I’ll read it more in depth soon, but its last line reads “being ignored by others isn’t as bad as ignoring yourself.” I just love this, it is so true. So many articles I’ve published on Medium have mainly been to get something out there I need to say. If only a few people read the articles(or none at all), at least I have put it out there on some official platform! And what’s even more wonderful is that Medium(like Substack mentioned above or others) allows you to officially “publish” your pieces so it can be a very formal, enduring format!

On the other side, don’t let this keep you from striving to grow your audience, expand your views, and even generate a few extra dollars. There are certainly many people really doing this on Medium and other sites(though it is hard work!). But isn’t it nice just to publish something for yourself, or simply for the sake of writing a piece?

He joins the ranks with other stars including Billy Joel, Clint Eastwood, and numerous others. A great lesson for a renowned inspirational and self-help guru! Of course, the article delves into several amazing facets of Robbins’ life and epic career to give readers amazing insight and inspiration.

The Amazing Adventures of Dog Ownership

Here is another amazing person’s recanting of amazing adventures with their dog. These tales never fail to enchant readers, often taking a similar approach to bonding with dogs as Gary Paulsen’s classic My Life In Dog Years. This piece is about the writer’s dog named Blossom, and how he grew on his once reluctant owner. I was kind of the same way in the past, not having an indoor dog until I moved in with my wife and adopted her young pug. You go from wondering how people can stand to have a dog running around the house to never having enough time to stroking under your four-legged friend’s neck and ceaselessly expressing to them how wonderful they are to you. This amazing piece itself takes a surprising turn into philosophical and spiritual self-examination.

What Is Your Feed Spilling Out to You?

Before you get out the mental pen and start drafting away, take a look at your suggested articles. Before you start to read some esoteric pieces you found in some quaint publication, what is jumping out right on your main page? It seems Medium’s subscription feeds and recommended reading algorithms are working in full swing. With this amazing platform, you certainly don’t have to go too far to expand your horizons and maybe even find something to knock your socks off. You might even be inspired enough to craft a short piece about some of those great works, and feel a spark to start drafting some more articles of your own!
