Oh Publications, Where Are You?

I know I have written about Medium publications recently. But I just have realized a few somewhat distressing items. Some of the first few publications I discovered on Medium seem to have drifted to the bulk pile. The Aperion Blog, a publication welcoming articles on philosophy, appears to not have published any stories for a few months.

However, some others like Cantor’s Paradise — a publication for mathematics — or The Writing Cooperative are still showing recent submissions. Also, Hinged — a publication accepting fiction submissions focusing around a single word or theme — is still showing active. I should rest assured that these are good signs that Medium publications still are here to stay.

If a Medium publication does take a break(or stops posting new articles altogether), then that does not mean the publication is obsolete. Quite the contrary, the publication’s collection of articles becomes a repository of information and content to continue enriching readers in the months and years to come, or even beyond.

There is also the wonderful topics feature. In case you want to explore Medium’s submitted content about any topic under the sun with an easy one word search, what a wonderful information organization feature for any platform to have. I never really got over Quora’s move away from topic tags(though spaces are pretty nifty).

I do hope Aperion Blog and others come back if they are just on a mini-vacation. But either way, I am guaranteed to keep visiting these publications regularly.
